Crucified With Christ—The Armor of God and the Power of Surrender

Born Again

“The enemy cannot collect a debt from a dead man.”

When we are crucified on the cross with Jesus, that is the true meaning of being born again. It means the old self has passed away, and the Spirit of God now holds complete authority over our existence. That profound reality requires that in every single decision we make, we must actively seek His sovereign will.

1. Free Will, Grace, and the Lessons of Obedience

Because God loves us with an unconditional, breathtaking love, He grants us free will—giving us the genuine choice to be obedient or to stray.

When we choose disobedience, it impacts our trajectory, clouds our relationships, and spreads through our lives like an infestation. Yet, rather than condemning us in our stumbles, His boundless grace meets us right where we are. He uses those very moments to lead us back to repentance, where we once again behold the warmth and mercy of His heart for us.

As believers, all roads lead to Jesus. If Proverbs teaches us anything, it is that when we choose Lady Wisdom over Lady Folly, love the Lord with all our hearts, and refuse to lean on our own understanding, something miraculous happens: He builds within us an immeasurable, unshakeable strength.

2. Rooted Like the Mustard Seed

Building on yesterday's exploration of earthly resistance, when faith even as small as a mustard seed is planted in Christ, it grows into a mighty tree. It becomes firmly rooted, anchoring itself deeper than the storms around it.

That tree doesn't just survive; it thrives, housing birds and wildlife, serving countless practical purposes both seen and unseen. But when we refuse to root ourselves in Jesus, we are like a branch broken off from the vine, completely powerless to accomplish anything on our own.

3. Putting on the Full Armor of God

To stand firm against the relentless resistance of this world, we must daily put on the full armor of God:

Belt of Truth: Secures our integrity and spiritual readiness.

Breastplate of Righteousness: Protects our heart through His moral goodness.

Feet Fitted with the Gospel of Peace: Provides unshakeable stability and a firm foundation.

Shield of Faith: Deflects the fiery darts, attacks, and doubts of the enemy.

Helmet of Salvation: Guards our mind, thoughts, and operating system.

Sword of the Spirit: The living Word of God, our ultimate weapon of defense.

Plead the blood of Jesus over every single interaction, conversation, and decision you make today. Love Him with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, and walk securely in the victory He has already won.

Reflection for Today

Died to Self: Are you living as someone who is crucified with Christ, or are you still trying to collect on the old life of self-reliance?

Choosing Wisdom: Are you seeking Lady Wisdom and leaning away from human understanding when trials and resistance hit?

Clothed in Armor: Have you intentionally put on the full armor of God and pleaded the blood of Jesus over your day today?

A Prayer for Today

Father, thank you for the absolute Truth of your Word and the reality that I am crucified with Christ. The enemy cannot collect a debt from a dead man, and my life is now hidden in you. Forgive me for the times I lean on my own understanding or wander into disobedience. Today, I put on the full armor of God—the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. I plead the blood of Jesus over every interaction and decision. Help me to love you with all my heart. In Jesus' name, amen.
