Total Honesty with Jesus and the Walls of Jericho

Tear Down the Walls

He already knows what we are feeling and experiencing, yet He chooses to walk with us moment by moment. More than anything, He wants us to bring everything to Him first.

If we are frustrated, tell Him so. If we are angry, hurting, or overflowing with joy, lay it out before Him. Even when the enemy plants intrusive, perverse thoughts in our minds, we don't need to cower in shame—we can bring those raw struggles straight to Him in the light.

When we try to hide our true feelings from God, we are essentially building walls between us and His presence. If the historic collapse of the walls of Jericho teaches us anything, it is that God does not want any barriers standing between us and Him. He wants those walls torn down so we can rest completely under His provision, where He pours out daily renewal, carefully building and growing us with a Father's love.

1. Going to Him Before Looking to Man

He is our Father in heaven, and He always meets us right where we are. Before we run to other people, before we vent to friends, and before we trust in the fragile tools of human effort, we must go to Him.

When we rely solely on man-made solutions, we miss out on the deep, divine conviction of His truth. Yes, some truths can hurt to hear. But when the Holy Spirit prepares us, trials that would have otherwise shattered our confidence actually become catalysts for growth.

Under the shelter of His grace, "the arrow that flies by day" will never pierce the divine protection of the Holy Spirit.

2. Turning What Was Meant for Destruction Into a Miracle

Countless times in history—both in Scripture and in modern testimony—God has brought His people through seemingly impossible situations entirely against human understanding.

Think of a severe car wreck where a woman is trapped, and the first responders realize their equipment simply isn't powerful enough to get her out of the crushed metal. In that terrifying moment of desperation, she asks everyone to join her in prayer. Twenty minutes later, a specialized rescue unit arrives with heavy-duty tools, freeing her from the wreckage.

And what is the greatest miracle? She leaves the vehicle completely unscathed.

God takes what the enemy meant to crush and kill, and uses it to demonstrate His protection. Everyone involved gets to witness and participate in a living miracle.

Praise the Lord, for He is the Alpha and the Omega, and His love surpasses any human affection we could ever comprehend!

Reflection for Today

Bringing Raw Honesty to God: Are you holding back your frustrations, anger, or intrusive thoughts from God, or are you bringing them into the open with complete transparency?

Tearing Down Walls: Are there walls of self-protection or pride that you need to let God tear down so you can rest under His grace?

Trusting His Protection: When trials or unexpected accidents hit, is your immediate instinct to panic, or to trust that He can turn what was meant for harm into a testimony of His protection?

Pray with us

Father, thank you for the absolute Truth of your Word and for meeting me right where I am. Forgive me for hiding my struggles, my anger, or my fears behind walls of self-reliance. Tear down every barrier between my heart and your presence. Teach me to bring everything to you first, before turning to the tools of man. Thank you for your unfailing protection, for turning what the enemy meant for destruction into miracles, and for loving me beyond measure. In Jesus' name, amen.
