Live and Let God

It is remarkably easy to fall into the trap of trying to solve every single problem of the world around us. When we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, He imparts a genuine, profound heart for people. We naturally rejoice when they rejoice, and we grieve deeply for them when they hurt.

Because of this compassion, many of us are quick to jump into action the moment someone is in need. But pause for a moment: are our actions born of obedience, or are we running ahead of God? How can we know for sure?

The answer is simple: pray.

We have a Savior who willingly died on the cross so that our very first resort could be direct communication with the Father. We are bought and paid for, redeemed by His blood.

While we know the absolute Truth of Romans 8:28—that all things work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose—we still need to pause and ask Him for direction.

You cannot pour from an empty cup. When we rush out in our own human strength to fix people, rescue situations, or carry burdens we were never assigned to bear, we quickly burn out.

Instead, we need only ask the Holy Spirit to fill our cup to overflowing first. Only when we are filled by His Spirit can we truly help others according to His divine blueprint, living out the heart of surrender: Live and let God.

Rushing vs. Praying: When you see someone in need or face a crisis around you, is your immediate instinct to scramble in human effort, or do you stop to pray first?

Checking Your Cup: Are you trying to pour into others from a place of emotional and spiritual exhaustion, or are you letting the Holy Spirit fill your cup daily?

Surrendering Control: Where do you need to stop trying to force solutions and instead trust God to work out Romans 8:28 in His perfect way?
