Ask Before We Act and the Harmony of Alignment
God loves directing us through His Holy Spirit. It brings Him immense joy to order our steps, but we must learn the discipline of asking before we act.
Too often, we jump the gun. We lean on our own understanding, do what we think is best, and then hit a wall. When doors slam shut in our faces, it is a clear sign they were not open doors from Him. Instead of getting discouraged, we must recognize these closed doors for what they are: divine redirection. True harmony is found entirely in alignment with His will, which ultimately means walking in love and perfect obedience to the absolute Truth.
For most of us, this requires a period of intense refinement. We make the mistake of acting first and praying later enough times that we finally learn the lesson. Eventually, the pain of stepping out of His will teaches us the absolute necessity of going to Him before we do anything.
If you are single, your call right now is to “marry” Jesus. We, the Church, are His bride. He is the ultimate Bridegroom who guides us perfectly into the Truth and reveals our specific calling. Dedicate this season to letting Him refine your impulses so that seeking His guidance becomes your first nature.
If you are married, the mandate remains the same: go to God first. When both husband and wife independently seek the Holy Spirit's guidance before acting, He will lead them together. He orchestrates their individual alignment into a unified, unbreakable bond.
Think about the gifts of the Spirit. Some believers are given prophetic dreams, while others are given the discernment to see deeply into complex circumstances. There are too many gifts to name, but when a husband and wife are fully aligned in Christ, their spiritual gifting does not just add up—it increases exponentially.
In the sacred covenant of an aligned marriage, something truly remarkable happens. The couple gets a front-row seat to witness miracles together, completely united against the enemy's camp. God's power is infinite, and when a household operates in perfect submission to His absolute Truth, it becomes a powerhouse for the Kingdom.
The Action Check: Have you been jumping the gun and acting on your own understanding, or are you actively cultivating the discipline of asking the Holy Spirit before you make a move?
The Closed Door Perspective: Are you currently frustrated by a closed door? Can you surrender it today and thank God for His divine redirection?
The Alignment Check: Whether single or married, are you prioritizing your alignment with Jesus above all else, trusting that He will harmonize the rest of your relationships when you put Him first?
Father, thank you for the absolute Truth of your Word and the guidance of your Holy Spirit. forgive me for the times i have jumped the gun, acted on my own understanding, and ignored your direction. give me the discipline to always ask before i act. thank you for the closed doors that have protected me and redirected me back to your perfect will. whether in a season of singleness or in the covenant of marriage, i ask that you refine my heart to seek you first above all else. unlock the gifts of the Spirit within me, and let my life be a testament to your infinite power and perfect harmony. in Jesus' name, amen.
