The Highway to Heaven and the Power of Intercession

There is an incredible testimony shared by a man named Gabriel Poirot entitled “18 Days in Heaven.” During a medical coma that lasted 18 days, Jesus brought him into the heavenly realm and revealed how things truly operate within the divine order.

One of the most profound realizations from his account is how dynamic and real our prayer life is in the unseen realm. When we pray, our petitions go directly to Jesus, who presents them to the Father. This spiritual transaction opens up a literal “highway” in the heavenlies — a pathway where the Holy Spirit is released to operate and directly impact the lives of believers and non-believers alike whom we are interceding for.

Consider the weight of this spiritual reality. Imagine someone you know and love who is struggling, unwell, or standing on the edge of making a catastrophic decision that could permanently harm them.

When you intercede for them in prayer, you are blazing a highway through the spiritual darkness. That prayer gives the Holy Spirit legal access to step directly into their situation. He can intervene to stop impending destruction, or use the moment to open their eyes so they finally see reality for what it is.

That divine intervention eventually leads to true repentance. Biblically, repentance is not merely feeling a fleeting sense of worldly remorse or guilt; it is a profound shifting of perspective — a complete about-face where a person turns entirely away from that sin and walks toward God.

And it all happens in God's perfect, sovereign timing. Nothing in the universe happens outside of God's sovereign will or His permissive will.

The greatest miracle of intercession is that God allows us — frail, human believers — to actively participate with Jesus in the spiritual rescue and healing of another soul.

Sometimes, because of the brokenness of this world, we may never get to see the fruit of that prayer while we are still breathing on earth. But when we ascend to heaven, we will be reunited with those who were touched by our prayers. In that eternal glory, we will delight in perfect unity under Jesus, overwhelmed with a boundless gratitude for His love that transcends all time and space.

The Power of the Highway: Do you view your prayer life as a routine religious duty, or as opening a literal spiritual highway where the Holy Spirit can move and rescue others?
