The Discipline of the Present

We often trap ourselves by staring so intently at the horizon—at the destination, the goal, or the resolution of our problems—that we trip over the very steps God is ordering for us today. Surrender is not a one-time event where we hand over the keys to our future; it is a daily, sometimes hourly, act of choosing to inhabit the present moment.

There is a profound, quiet power in the prayer, "God, I surrender. I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I am here today to do right by You."

When you wake up and consciously relinquish the need to orchestrate the outcome, you are engaging in a radical act of trust. This is the true definition of a leader—an "Alpha" in the Kingdom sense. In the world, being an Alpha is often equated with dominance, control, and self-reliance. But in the eyes of Christ, true authority comes from total submission to the King.

You are an Alpha because you answer to no one but Jesus. When your ultimate allegiance is to Him, you are no longer a slave to the opinions of others, the fears of your own ego, or the pressure to "make things happen" by your own force of will. You are free to be steady, unshakable, and decisive, because your steps are being ordered by the One who sees the beginning and the end.

We live in a world that encourages us to "be our own boss," but the most effective leaders know that we are all part of a larger chain of command. God provides the vision, and we provide the obedience.

When you align with this chain of command, you find a new way to relate to others. You are no longer competing with the rest of the Body of Christ; you are collaborating. Because we all answer to the same Head—Jesus—we can finally trust one another. We stop trying to manipulate our brothers and sisters and start serving them. We realize that His provision is not limited, so we don't need to hoard influence or opportunities.

Today, stop trying to manufacture the future. Focus entirely on the immediate task—the "step" currently under your feet.

Ask: "Lord, what is the right thing to do in this hour?"

Believe: Trust that His provision is waiting at the end of the step He ordered, not at the end of the path you tried to pave for yourself.

True strength is found in the stillness of a heart that says, "I am Your servant today. Order my steps, and I will walk in them."

If you are feeling the weight of the future, stop. Bring your focus back to the present.
