Seeking His Strategy—1 Chronicles 14:14 and Daily Connection
Daily, unbroken connection with Jesus is the absolute lifeline of our walk with Him.
Often, we face trials in our present day that look identical to battles we have already fought and won in our past. In our human logic, we are tempted to say, "I know how to handle this; I'll just use the same playbook I used last time." But that exact presumption is a dangerous trap.
In the deeper spiritual realm, entirely different principalities and forces may be at play behind the scenes. When we lean on our own human understanding instead of inquiring of the Lord, we step right into the enemy's territory—where human logic is easily outmaneuvered and defeated.
Consider King David when the Philistines spread out in the Valley of Rephaim. The first time they attacked, David asked God what to do, and God gave him a direct strategy for victory.
When the Philistines returned for a second time, David did not simply assume he should use the exact same military maneuver. 1 Chronicles 14:14 tells us what David did next:
“Therefore David inquired again of God; and God said to him, ‘Do not go up after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees.’”
God's character never changes, but He is the infinite origin of creativity. He sees the hidden spiritual tactics at play and knows the precise, custom strategy that will lead us to absolute victory. This is why His promise stands: no weapon formed against you will prosper.
Obedience is remarkably simple in its core instruction: ask Him first.
When we go to Him before taking action, He leads us with divine precision. God has infinite ways to dismantle and defeat the enemy, whereas our human options are entirely finite.
Furthermore, remember that the devil is merely a created being, never a creator. Regardless of how intricate, deceptive, or overwhelming his attacks appear, we are utterly protected and deeply loved by a God who has already won the war.
When we go to Jesus first, we are not trying to fight our way to victory; we are approaching our daily problems from the reality of being seated in heavenly places with Christ (Ephesians 2:6). We fight from victory, not for it.
Trust Him completely. Don't just intellectualize or passively accept Him—embrace Him with your whole heart. We all desperately need His love, and walking in total surrender and alignment with Him in every inch of our existence is our highest calling.
Have a blessed, victorious day in His presence. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen!
