Sanctification Through Alignment

We are human, and in our weakness, we sometimes fall into the trap of thinking it is difficult to hear God's voice. The enemy whispers the exact same lie he whispered in Eden: “Did God really say that?”

We get discouraged, slip into unbelief, and begin questioning whether we are even hearing from the Spirit at all. But right in the middle of our doubt, something miraculous happens: He steps in and corrects us.

Sometimes His correction comes in the form of a sudden, brilliant idea. Other times, it manifests in a conversation or a difficult situation where our old, fleshly nature would naturally react with anger, defense, or anxiety.

Instead, the Holy Spirit gives us a supernatural grace. We realize we no longer have to tolerate toxic behavior or destructive dynamics, but we can respond with such profound, Spirit-led compassion that the other person is brought face-to-face with their own actions. They recognize what they are doing, apologize, and even repent. That is the fruit of transformation.

God is completely unchanging, yet He is far too vast for the entire human consciousness to fully comprehend.

Look at the story in the wilderness when the Israelites—who had just been miraculously freed from slavery in Egypt—built a golden calf idol. God's holiness burned against their rebellion, yet when Moses interceded, it wasn't that God changed His mind; rather, it was a test of the unfolding covenant plan. It served as a vivid demonstration that while our God is holy and not to be trifled with, He still loves us more than anything.

When we grasp the depth of that love, our heart shifts. Why would we ever want to hurt Him by turning back to our old ways?

When we encounter bumps, turns, and trials on our journey, the key is refusing to go off on our own independent tangent. The enemy desires only one thing: to separate us from God. He will say or do anything to achieve that separation.

This is why daily sanctification is so vital. Sanctification is much like applying a high-strength adhesive to two surfaces: first, you spray all the accumulated dust and debris out of the way, section by section, before seamlessly attaching the material together. The Holy Spirit clears away the dust of our flesh so we can be seamlessly, permanently aligned with the Father.

Where has the enemy been whispering “Did God really say that?” over something the Spirit already told you?
